It’s been a little while since I’ve been online and out and about. Two weeks ago I was booked in to have a cortisone injection in my lower spine to help relieve back pain.
Unfortunately, during this procedure another issue was raised. The team advised my original assessment was incorrect and I had a serious spinal infection and had to go to hospital.
After spending 12 days in hospital, I want to express my deep gratitude for every healthcare worker and hospital staff member that worked towards finding a solution and caring for me every step of the way.
I am advocating for better working conditions for the people who look after us in some of our most vulnerable moments.
Starting with safe staffing levels. NSW Labor will introduce minimum and enforceable safe staffing levels to public hospitals, starting with emergency departments.
I had 12 days in hospital and saw how overwhelmed our nurses are. This Government has had 12 years to address these compounding issues, and given yesterday’s nurses strike, it’s clear that they’re just not listening.
Our healthcare workers, patients and community deserve better, and that starts by taking care of the people who take care of us.
